Here's an interesting piece. From what I can tell, it seems to be a raku partially white crackle glazed pot. The unglazed portions, the band around the top, and the base, are a dark brown, and square ridges between the upper glazed and unglazed sections seem to be painted gold.
The pot is very nice, but it's big and heavy. It's about eight inches tall and twelve inches across, not the kind of thing that gets tucked away on a shelf. I'm actually not sure what it would really be used for, maybe a planter?
The bottom is signed "Tutt", but I haven't been able to determine who that is. Any ideas? Have you seen something like this before?
look up Sarah Tutt Marblehead Pottery
I did come across her while searching, but I believe Marblehead Pottery was very different. Besides, this doesn't have a Marblehead logo.
I'm sure she made pottery while not employed there.
But is that OP behind Tutt?
