This is a classic Murrle Bennett pendant in 15ct gold and set with matrix turquoise.
This was made in the early 1900's for the English market, to be sold through Liberty & Co or similar high end retailers. The design echos the Celtic interlace style made famous by Liberty's top designer, Archibald Knox.
A rare feature is the original heart shaped enhancer bale. This allows it to be clipped to a variety of necklaces such as the pearl or turquoise examples shown.
beautiful!!
A beauty again! I discover with your post that such bales were used then...
I'm always seeking for antique opening bales, or screwing brooches systems!
Love versatile jewellery :-)
This is a gorgeous piece! I love that bale too! Thanks for posting :)
I too love the bale, gives the piece the ability to change its look almost as it hangs from different mediums. Not many pieces can do that nowadays.
