Favorite find of the year! Kosuga chair & ottoman

Snagged this mid-century marvel in Salida, CO this summer and now have ONE MORE upholstery project to finance, argh! A Japanese Kosuga chair and ottoman....have seen several online (including some outrageously priced ones on First Dibs). Has anyone ever recovered one of these? I'm wondering how experienced (ie, expensive) an upholsterer I need to find to do the job. The leather/leatherette/vinyl is stitched in horizontal bands throughout, and has one very obvious mended tear on the seat and a lot of missing stitching. Also, a faint smoke smell when the weather turns humid. Frankly, it's not even that comfortable, but it's so darn good looking!
