I inherited this stove and am trying to find out more about it. It has "Magee's Standard" and 1882 written on the base. Says it was made in MA.
I haven't seen another one like it and am wondering what the value might be. It does work. It stands about 4-5 feet tall and is made of cast iron.
Anyone have any info on this? thanks

Beautiful stove/heater. MA would probably be for Massachusetts, USA. Had to Google that spelling! Welcome to CyberAsylum/CW! Wonder what % of people who live in that state know how to spell it? Probably a good drunk driver teat. "Spell the name of your State".

Hi, I'm fairly positive that stove of your's was built in Taunton, Mass. At the time Taunton, Ma. was pumping out more stoves of various shapes and sizes for numerous company's than anywhere else in the USA due to the mining and heating with coal. Your stove may be a "base burner" or "base heater" where the hot gases were directed down under the fire and back up the flue pipe by simply moving a damper. They are incredibly efficient and beautiful to look at. Please check out nepacrossroads.com I and many more heat with coal and love it!
