So friends, how did I do for my first newest pieces of glass since being on this site and seeing so many beautiful examples?
I got these because I could afford them, although one day hopefully soon, I'll be able to really get into it!
The tallest is Murano, it may look a bit crooked but it's got wax, with this being earthquake country, it needs to be fastened down. I may try to remove it and straighten it out...or just leave it!
I have no idea what the other two are. the yellow one I got because it reminded me of some I've seen here and with the orange dot, well...It is also signed but can't read it.
And the pot, I think I saw one that Sean listed very similar...Sean???
Thanks for looking!
stunning sue!!
I double check on that!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
OMG Sean What's so funny??? ;)
So who was it that listed one similar...please don't tell me it was.........
it's pretty tho. It's a copper color with spatter green and gold.
Sue, great post!!
Thank you eye! I would have never guessed that. I also tried the pencil and paper trick, I think we all learned as kids, it didn't work! lol!
Thanks moonie gal! That means a lot coming from you :)
Thank you for the loves vetraio, aghcollect, sklo42,
Thank you for the loves mikelv, patsea, cindb, Jewels, trey , PhilDavid, and ho2! Much appreciated!!!
Hey Sue nice post!
My fave is actually the "pot" as you called it. Love those inclusions.
I'm not up to speed at the moment but will try and research it..a great piece!
Now the slammer (not really). Your Murano piece is Italian (of course!), is lovely and well made, but probably is not from the island of Murano. Why do I say that?
The sticker "Murano Style Glassware" etc is a company that I think is established around Florence, who produce hand blown glass of lovely quality, but sell with this sticker because humans are stupid and think the word Murano somehow changes things. I wish the glassworks would just rest on their laurels and produce under their own name, leave Murano out of it. Their product is well good enough!
Hi racer! Hmmm, you would think that would be listed under "false adv" or something...right?! It definitely doesn't "look" like a Murano piece either. Not only that, but I found out that hidden under the wax, the darn thing is cracked!
On to the other pieces...You would love how the green shows on the "pot", yes, I have picked up on the lingo of many "pottery" collectors ;) The ones with one handle are referred to as "jugs".
I will take a better photo to show you. Oh I remember now that you have both green and browns! You are going to love this. If I remember correctly there are no markings on the bottom but I have seen the same style recently.
I got the yellow mostly because I like that I can actually see the layers of glass, or that it does have layers I should say. As a collector, I never really purchased a lot of art glass and have come to love it since seeing it here on CW.
I hope you are doing well and your home is back to one piece now, or soon! Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Nothing darling !! I was laughing because I do have something close to your vase!!
Sean, you can laugh at me anytime! (You won't be alone) lol!!!
Thank you inky and pops for the loves!
