My mom's "hall chair'

My mother picked this chair up in Missouri from the estate of Lora V Edgar who was my stepfathers Great Uncle she held on to it forever and when she passed it came to me. the cushion covering is in bad shape but overall the chair is sound. I have been told it is a Hall Chair that was used in the front hall of large homes but not sure how accurate that is. I have found no marks on it to identify a maker.
