My great Aunt died about 8 years ago at the age of 94 and then my great Uncle died a week later. They were married for 74 years. This is one of the quilts that came from their estate. We think it came form the husbands side of the family which is not the blood line, his last name was Bloom. It's an old (pre 1900) Pennsylvania (Bucks County?) quilt, size is 84” x 97”, Rose Whig pattern, 9 stiches to the inch, seems to be cotton, I would call it a summer weight or a cover quilt ( there isn’t any batting between the front and backing. It is made of 9 blocks with stars at the block intersections and has a border on three sides. We found one three corner tear about 3/8”x1/4” and some pin holes about 1/8” in diameter(all on the backing). Any guesses on a date based on style, color and fabric used?
That's gorgeous! Great colors.
