    Hello, this is my wooden rub-no-more soap crate/box. Logo on both sides, remnant of a label, and old nails. It is quite large--26 x 16 x 8. I love it! Thanks for looking! Julie

      First established in the year 1877, Summit City Soap Works became a very profitable business, especially with the introduction of their latest and greatest product, Rub-No-More Washing Powder. After several years, the company changed their name from Summit City Soap Works to The Rub-No-More Co. - In the mid 1920's, the soap manufacturer sold the name to Proctor and Gamble and was manufactured and sold under their label for several more years.
      Thought you might like to see their cute advertising trademark;

      Thanks so much agh! I love their advert label! Adorable! I guess there were boxes of those in this crate? I am now trying to date the crate...

      Well, it says the brand name was sold to Proctor & Gamble in the mid-20's who continued to use the brand for several years - but your crate still retains a portion of the paper label with the Summit City Soap Works name. I could find no mention in advertising after 1920 - I would guess your crate is pre 1920 at least.

      Thanks agh! I didn't look closely enough at the partial label and you're correct, it is summit city soap works! Thanks again for your help!

      Hi Jewels -- I love old boxes and crates -- such fun to have these little pieces of history. The writing on this one is FAB! In my posting I have an old crate in Italian I thought was for riffles from WW1 -- ended up being a Spanish Laxative box!! Gee did I laugh at myself over that one!!! I was telling my friends for years it was a rifle box! LOL x 10

      Trunkman, just tell it was some kind of bullets (laxative suppositories?)
      Hilarious story indeed :-D
