This is an original K 98 Mauser bayonet, brought home by a U.S. Army vet from North Africa. The bayonet and scabbard have matching serial numbers which means this set has been together since the day they were manufactured. The bayonet has walnut grips, and the blade retains much of it's blued finish. Instead of using leather for the frog which attached to the waist belt, olive green canvas was used because it did not dry out in the hot climate as leather did.
