I just received the most beautiful Crazy quilt top from my Husbands Step Sister Kate. She states it was handed down to my husbands Mother by another family member some time in her life but not sure of who this member was. Kate believes it may be an 1800's Pennsylvania
Velvet and Satin Crazy quilt top. It is made out of 9 squares approximately 23x23 various hand embroidered flowers birds. the center block looks to have some type of initials sewn on it but it is hard to say if it is a ( ZZMH) or a (SSM#) or just part of the design The Piece measures 71"x71" it has a few frayed ends on the edge and some inner fabric areas wore from age and possible folding. The back is mostly light muslin, but has some darker brown and green fabric. I am wondering if I should give it a proper backing or just keep it as Is it is so beautiful to store away Can anyone tell me anything about it or the approximate year it was made
Hi can you take a photo of back it would dating it . They used beautiful scraps to make this and I really like the almost fan like shape at top right . These I think are some of the most beautiful quilts ever made and took a lot of skill to match up patches . I will wait to see back ok. Love it and precious heirloom.
