    The condition is pretty rough on this sign but it is the first pattern Bell Telephone sign (although the flat version may have come earlier than the flanged). Manufacture discontinued in 1895 when "Local" was added, but these signs were still used well into the 20th century, especially in areas where A.T.& T. owned the long lines between local operating companies.
