Bought this old travel trunk/chest at a local garage sale. It is hessian covered and believe came originally from Scotland. Just cant seem to find anything similar and was hoping someone may be able to date it in some way or identify any other points of interest. thank you
Hi have you found any information on your trunk? I thin I have a similar one that has the Viking travelling truck on the inside with t. Forman & sons, Nottingham, London & Glasgow
Hello,
I have not uncovered anything about this trunk at this stage. Thank you for passing on the name inside yours. I might looking into that maker.

This is a link to the pic on the inside of my trunk, Its not in great condition as it has been out in the weather for a few years :(
thanks for that but unfortunately the links dont work. I think mine has been exposed to all conditions too.
do you have an email address I can send the pic to you?
yeah sure leeroy001@gmail.com thanks
got the pics. Mine is basically identical but slightly smaller. It has 3 of the round metal tacks on each wooden runner not the 4 that yours has, but other than that its the same! amazing
Glad you received the pics! I grab this trunk as a friend was throwing it out a few years ago..... Now I would love to find more information but I can't seem to find much, if you do find anything let me know if you can ??
Well done for saving it. We can only wonder at the history of these and the journey's they have been on. I do now mine made the trip from Scotland to Australia possibly in the 1920's. Will keep you posted if I find anything more. thanks again
We have this trunk with the label in excellent condition. My husband's great-grandmother brought it with her from Cornwall. We are wondering if it is of any value other than sentimental. Thank you.
Im not sure of a value, I went to a vintage show but they were unable to help me. I have tried looking on the web but I cant really find info on the maker. I would like to post a photo of mine but Im not sure how to.... If you are able to find anymore info please let us know if you can
I have not been able to find anything on the web, either. I'll have to research local antique dealers to see if they know anything about the trunk. Thank you.
