Camillus utility knife 1988? marked U.S. Is this military or gov. issued? for Thrifty.

I saw Thrifty Gypsies older post and thought I would post this up. Got it from my brother a couple of months ago and was wondering if this was military issue. It is marked U.S. but that doesn't mean it was issued by the military. is also a camillus and marked 1988. the date maybe? It's stainless steel and has a bottle opener, can opener, boring tool, and a very stout blade. And yes the boring tool and blade are very sharp.It is 3 5/8" closed and 8 1/4" with the boring/blade extended. Wanted to know if Thrifty or anyone else knows more than I do about this.
