    Here is a early, most likely 18th century parallel ruler. Made of forged brass and ebony wood. A very nice piece with only a little corrosion around one hinge. More about the para-ruler:

      You have a nice find here. Although you may want to examine the wood a bit closer. Ebony would be unusual as opposed to cocobolo wood. Regardless they are both exotic hardwoods with quite similar value on the market. These are handy if you are doing layout. I have only a modern pair left as I don't use them at this point in life.
