    I found this pot at Goodwill today for $4. It has some age to it, but not sure how much. it's well-made and the price was right! anyone recognize the impressed design? maybe mexican? maybe pueblo? unsigned.

      Thanks Weirdpuckett. there are many forms of pottery which get this black sheen to them. when i used to make pottery, we would burnish pieces and then sawdust fire them to get the same look. Maria Martinez gets the same black using cow dung.

      Such a surprise to find one of these here. It is a Swazi beer bowl from Swaziland. I bought one of them in South Africa when i went there to visit my in-laws.
      I lo ve the Black clay and its thin walls.
