We bought this marvelous colored etching for free, yes in facto what we purchased was the frame, to a man that used to sold mainly furniture. The frame was restored by us and as the print looks great we cleaned it carefully. It is American the artist but edited in Europe. The motive is a maid that has thrown the fruits purchased because of a carriage, and a man that has taken the fruits, a sort of gallant scene.
Percy Moran, also Known as Edward Percy Moran, E. Percy Moran
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1862 and died at New York 1935.
Percy Moran was the son of marine painter Edward Moran and nephew of the prominent landscape artist Thomas Moran. After studying art formally in Paris, New York, and Philadelphia, Percy opened his own studio in New York. His watercolors and illustrations for books and magazines were popular, and his scenes of children and rural life in colonial America were especially marketable. These images were widely reproduced as photogravures, mezzotints, and colored etchings.
