I picked this up from a real nice guy that owns the antique store on the corner of the square in Lebanon tn, which isn't much of a drive as i visit frequently. I collect Antiques specifying in Coca Cola and what information I got from him was that it was a 1910s Coca Cola crate from Nashville Bottling Works. It is all complete and original. It's roughly 17 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches and 9 inches tall. Black lettering on both sides that says Coca Cola Bottling Works Nashville Tenn. But to the point the most interesting part about this entire piece is that there is a board about 3/4 down - 2/3 that has 24 holes cut in it 4x6 so that it holds the bottles upsidedown with the manufacturer on the bottom of the bottle facing up. I absolutely adore this piece but I do lack a lot of information simply from its rarity and that I've only seen 1 like it and it was in worse condition for much much higher of a price. The black lettering is faded but is legible on both sides, one much better then the other. I bought it with 24 all Tennessee bottles in it for a price of 125$ as I am also wondering what it is worth even though it is priceless to me and will most likely become a permanent piece in my collection. It's surprisingly sturdy for how old it is but the metal has rusted some to a degree. Any Information especially a date and rarity on this is highly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks it clears up a lot of stuff you see from bad information from other places. I have yet to see another one from Nashville though.

I would just really like to know a date on this piece more than anything. A date tells a lot of the history of this piece by itself.

I love the old crates and this is a nice one. It may have had a lid at one time. It's very similar to one in my collection. You've inspired me to pull mine out from under the buffet to display more prominently. Good Wood.

Oh yea I was gonna say something about the lid. After Earlycoke sent me his link, I went to investigate mine to see if it had previously had a lid. I didn't believe it did because most that had lids, the lid fit in a groove and I knew mine had no groove but I looked anyway and I can't find any signs of nail holes or wear marks where a lid would be. The metal bands that wrap around the sides that hold a lot of together show no signs reduced rust where a lid would have been. No nail holes nothing. So I don't think this one had a lid but thanks Daddy_Nobucks it's very interesting the different things these early crates had.

If any of yall like Large Coca Cola signs, I have a clear coated side panel from a large floor model 40s Coca Cola cooler. I'll post the link on this comment page to it when I get done posting it.

I just won one of these from Nashville with 24 empty bottles on an online auction and I was happy to see your information.
