Here is a hand painted Shelley tea cup and saucer. My wife got this as a gift from a family member. They believe it was her great grandmothers. Any info would be great.

The blank that's used is called "dainty." If you do an eBay search for "Shelley Dainty" you'll find a lot of interesting patterns using the same shape. The decoration on this one is uncommon and it's likely one of the more valuable "dainty" pieces. Try the search, you'll see what I mean. :-)

"My wife got this as a gift from a family member. They believe it was her great grandmothers."

Learned something just this past summer. Growing up, my sister-in-law noticed but never gave it a thought that her mother's tea cups were mismatched - each cup matched its saucer, but all of them were singles. She finally asked, and her mum explained it used to be that a girl would receive a cup and saucer from each guest at her wedding shower. That was the traditional gift.
