hello and belated Christmas greeting from my house.
Although unwell I was determined to ttry and do the traditional Christmas. Somethings worked, some didnt.
Have a happy New Year in 15...
Anne xx
that's nice happy newyear ,
Best wishes to you and you family Anne!
I can see your table was set with the best.....and a good drop.
Thank you lundy and Racer
Yes a little bit of Wedgwood Cornicopia dinner service and Royal Doulton glassware. A present from my husbands grandfather celebrating or marriage in 2004. We actually drove to the Wedgwood Factory, just out side of Stoke and selected that pattern. Since then I've had several afternoon tea events with the late Lord A Wedgwood and he kindly signed many of my pieces. In here he has signed to condiment set...
And yes Chandon is a family standard for Christmas in my family.
For those with good vision you can probably sight my comports, in light blue, white and gold. Miessen say they're not theirs. Purchased in England they are either English or German and come from 1830's-1870's. Denoted from a repair style that was used in that time and matching patterns produced by other factories including Minton.
Photo 2 shows 3 of my Christmas presents to myself. I purchased 7 Moorcroft tiles and had them framed by a lady in Australia who visits UK yearly and selects Moorcroft tiles to bring back and sell....I gave one each to the girls and kept 5 for myself..I shall put a new post soon with them but I am so happy I have these becaue they add a new dimension to the collection . I have an 1850's Minton turquoise blue tile which is the start of hopefully a new interest for me...
Thank you Racer for your lovely interest in my small and humble collection. I say that in all honesty as so many others have wopping great monsters of stuff...What I've learnt is collect what you like; buy well; don't get caught up in discussion; pick streams and variants but be careful what you buy; stick to what you want to buy not what someone wants to sell you...lol..and final words of wisdom - if it's something you really want to buy then buy it. You'll kick yourself when it gets sold to someone else. Having said that make sure it is something you want, dont get caught up in moments..
Thanks again, love your collections too..
Good advice, AnneLanders. And thank you for posting these lovely pics, a good New Year to you and yours.
