So I found this great necklace at a goodwill store in a grab-bag of jewelry. At first I thought the stones were turquoise but now I'm not so sure. In fact, I have no idea what they might be. All the stones are faceted and are very cold. I'm hoping someone might know what sort of stones these are. And is this something that might have been made at a particular time? I am putting this in the Native American category as well as costume jewelry... I have great faith in Collectors Weekly readers/viewers! Thank you so much!!!
Hi carolize. That is such a hard call. I have a lot of stones that confuse me also, especially when the seller tells you one thing and you sometimes find out different later :) They could be turquoise, the could be jade, jasper, quartz... it's not always easy looking from a monitor either.
My guesstimate, and that's all it is, would be that it's newer. Being attached to the ribbon, right? It may be something someone on etsy made. The beads look copper. But at the end of the limb, I say it is turquoise. There is also the most rare and highly desired "white buffalo" turquoise which would be the white stones.
I love it tho. I would wear this piece for sure. Welcome to the CW!
Oh my gosh, thanks so much! I think its really cool and I will wear it for sure! It's so great to have a place to ask questions. I love finding "treasures." :)
