James this is chair number two. It needs a dowel rod replaced on the right side and one repaired or replaced on the upper left side. The seat is like I have not seen in the fact that it appears to have been crocheted and then covered in a very high grade durable plastic. The chair is oak and is rather small as far as chairs go. I made mention in my previous post about the "deck chair" of which it, and this one were found in a detached garage of an abandoned house that was due to be razed for a new building. The house was built around 1930 or thereabouts. I'm just curious as to why both of these chairs seem to be on the "small side". Anyone know why the size is what they are or why was this seat done in such embroidered detail, only to be covered with plastic. I'm guessing it was done (plastic covered) to protect the artwork and for extended longevity for the chair itself.
