I am the 6th generation owner of this watch and there is very little history about it so I am curious. Maybe someone else will know something and be able to shed some light.
The watch is gold with a detachable chain. The end of the chain has a flat end with the letters G E R engraved, the R is for Robinson. It is in the original jewelry box from Millikan & Hickle Jewelers in Athens, Ohio. The back has what looks to be a scroll engraved on it. Inside on the back of the watch is DETACHED LEVER, 43 JEWELS, handy (with an arrow curved to the right showing the way to turn the key), NO.6526, Francis DuBois & Co. from Locle
Inside the back cover is engraved my Great-Grandmothers name; Winifred B. Higgins, Athens, O; F.D.&Co.; a small symbol of some sort in the very middle and the number 6526.
The face of the watch is gold with an engraved scene. Possible, and most likely, from Athens Ohio. It has a smaller dial at the bottom; a second hand?
If you have any knowledge about the jewelry company or watch maker I would be very interested to hear about it.

Hi, Thought you might find this link to my Dubois and Sons watch of interest as they look quite similar. No doubt from the same Dubois family. My is currently being professionally cleaned and services and it dates back to the early to mid-1800's. The watch was made in Switzerland and the Dubois's made very good watches.
