Picked up this old Pabst neon sign today. The transformer is not mounted to the sign, it is a stand alone. Transformer has PABST embossed on the top. The person I bought it from said he thought the transformer may not be the original one that came with the sign, that he thinks his dad bought the transformer later. Sign works great and is in near mint condition. Can't seem to find another like it to get an idea of when it was made, what the value might be, etc. I have had a couple people say they think it is worth $500-600, does this sound right? I am thinking 40s or early 50s. Any help appreciated! Thanks! Scott
You are correct - the sign is from the 50's and I think the transformer may be original to the sign as well. The numbers in the Serial field are the date; 450 is April 1950 and dated correctly for that sign. I have a few of these, with slight variations, in my collection. It's a nice example.
Thanks Neonking! Good info to know. I love the sign!
