Louis XIV, France's Sun King, had the longest reign in European history (1643-1715). During this time he brought absolute monarchy to its height, established a glittering court at Versailles, and fought most of the other European countries in four wars. The early part of his reign (1643-61), while Louis was young, was dominated by the chief minister Cardinal Mazarin. In the middle period (1661-85) Louis reigned personally and innovatively, but the last years of his personal rule (1685-1715) were beset by problems.

I know what you mean Alan. I've posted really nice things that got hardly any attention. Then I remembered my university training & what I call "pop-lines". Only the 1st few words appear on the pop-up, for your item, so you have to get their attention then. Another problem is the people who just poste crap, such as old ads from their library morgue & people just skip over them. (Such as immature people who think that having the most posts is a status symbol). I've been following CW for several years & it appears to be turning into a Tupperware party. I've threatened to drop out several times because the meaning of the word "collectors" has changed so much. I've never collected shit & certainly wouldn't poste it as others do. I like history & your sharing your's has been appreciated. Thank you again.

PS: Alan. Remember that you are not dealing with a high-grade collector's mentality here. We have high grade people with knowledge in their interest fields. That accounts for maybe 10-15%. The rest are in the Tupperware crowd or trying to get that high count. I have almost quit posting because of that mentality.

Blunder pretty much summed it up. Easier to ignore posts here and the lack of moderation than to deal with it. There are other sites where your posts and what you offer for information are actually appreciated. This site is free so you get what you pay for. Take it or leave it along with the rest of us.
