I don't know what this is. Looks like might be a straight razor made into a knife. This was my fathers, he would be 117 years old.

Does the blade semi-lock at diff. angles? Kind of looks like a ratchet knife.
Yes. Little notches to set at different angles.
A ratchet knife then! The are used mainly for peeling soft skinned fruit. You use a few fingers to keep the blade at the right angle you want & easy to change it as the contour of the fruit changes. This looks like a really nice old one.
Thanks for your input. I couldn't find a picture or description of the knife. I wondered where it's from and it's when it was made , what it's worth? Not that I would sell it. Give it to my children, nostalgia.
They are/were usually marketed from the UK but probably made in places like India. They just seemed to disappear from the markets in Jamaica by the late 70's. Since the were a fruit peeling knife, they were usually ignored by the police but were often used for offensive/defensive. Yours is a very early one. Guess being, pre 1960's. If you throw it out, - - throw it my way.
