    This, and one other, paperweight was given to my wife by a coworker. In the process of manufacturing custom cradle bases I really started to appreciate the craftsmanship and am curious as to who may of made it. I spin and hammer custom church ware from brass and sterling with occasional gold. Workmanship peeks my interest.

      The base is unpolished. Kind of looks like it's been sanded?

      Without seeing it that type of base generally leads towards China as the origin.
      There is a large and growing glass industry there, and although some of their work is ordinary, some is very beautiful and accomplished.
      There is quite a lot of work in a weight like this. If you are interested YouTube has quite a few videos showing the process.
