Please let me show today a small Pietra Dura brooch in silver setting. Lovely floral pattern with eg malachite. Diameter 3 cm with 800 stamped silver setting.
Pietra Dura (hard stone) referes to vaious hardstones for example chalcedony, agate, jasper, lapis lazuli used in Flat slices in this type of mosaic produced in Florence (sometimes in Russia) from the Renaissance until today. To read more about Pietra Dura please read:
