Often seen in small New England towns and villages, these 14"x20" porcelain double faced signs were attractive to the eye. But the message was clear: "Pay Your Telephone Bill Here." The sign's shape mimics an open telephone directory. The signs were placed at Telephone Agencies such as drug and variety stores who received bill payments and in return earned a set fee from New Eng Tel & Tel. The unusual white bell indicates no coin telephone service on the premises.
