When I first saw this thumbnail on a Japanese glass site I fully believed at first this vase was Japanese made.

Heavy thick glass, pulegoso body cased in clear, added coloured glass features. But no! it's Czech from Skrdlovice. When I looked closer I could see the differences but heck, some similar technique here!

This vase has a nice set of stickers including a Skrdlovice one.
I'm waiting for Vet to tell me more - lazy am I!!!

The green glass tear drops have meaning too.....it's almost as if the Czechs of 1981 were harking back to their heritage. I would sooooo love to own that vase Karen!

Is it channelling early Beranek pieces? I think it is interesting looking through post war catalogues looking at pieces makers have referenced or drawn on.
    17. IanBrighton IanBrighton, 10 years ago
That might also help us pin some pre war stuff by region as surely makers drew on what they knew in terms of technique and design?
    18. racer4four racer4four, 10 years ago
It does have a look of some early Bernanek Ian, and as Sklo says styling cues to quite early design. I wonder sometimes if this is a deliberate design act or an ingrained or "learned" style. Interesting hey?

Hi racer4four firstly I love your vase I'm also a bit partial to glass & crystal myself I do not have anything near what I use to own & you might as well say I gave it away to move to the tropics. Secondly is there anyway you & I can have a private line to talk on other matters. Andrena was correct about being from the Thurrawal clan it just was not showing up in the index of clans but reading slightly into the book The Darug & their neighbours it showed there.

Hi racer4four they will not let me send Email as no name so I will have to put it address book under your CW name ok. Take care Zowie & lets hope they let me use that I didn't realise that I had to have it in the address book. Stupid if you ask me
