This is brass with copper and silver accents, measures 9 1/2" across from point to point. Top, star-shaped, portion lifts up from hinged bottom section. This may have held some other part inside. It's been suggested to me that it might be an inkwell but I can't confirm that. Definitely middle-eastern, perhaps Persian, Syrian or Moroccan. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
