I love Jun Yao ware because the style is so free and so abstract. The colors are refined and subtle yet strong and powerful at the same time. The Sang de Boeuf or "Ox Blood" color is among my favorites , and with the splash of blue to purple , is the best!
Yes, Weirdpuckett! lighting is crucial for "Oxblood" color! It can look almost orange in some lighting , but I prefer the cooler magenta to deep maroon! And in glass , too, lighting from behind can be just fantastic! On these Jun Yao type pottery pieces , the surface has fine crackles and tiny pin holes , with the waterfall or splash effect from the sky blue dappled on it! Thanks for your comments!
