My husband bought this one for me yesterday at a very good price. I don't know anything about its history. I have wanted an antique Singer sewing table for years and I was lucky enough to find this one with a sewing machine.
I intend to restore it, as it is in need of some repairs.
I will never sell it because my husband bought it for me and I have waited a long time to own one. This one cost him $120 which I think was very good value.
Looks like a nice machine, well worth hanging on to and cleaning it up...
Thanks. I am going to strip it back and give it a coat of stain. I'm not going to varnish it though. Hopefully with the stain only it will look nice. The person who did it up last time obviously didn't do a very good job. They also closed it up before the varnish was dry.
Hi I would say its a similar age to mine. If you haven't! you can search for Singer serial numbers and when you find the singer site select the right prefix field and it will show you a list of numbers and the years they were produced. The serial number on your machine is below the bobbin winder. The decals on your machine are Sphinx. Its very tidy, I'm jealous you have the middle drawer (as mine was missing) and you have 4 drawers lol
