This is a commemorative set issued for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition which was held in St Louis, MO from Apr. 30th to Dec. 1st, 1904 - Issued on April 30th. The Scott catalog#'s are #323 to #327 (in denomination order) - Yours are mint condition and the book value lists these at about $420 for the complete set of (5). If they are show no signs of being hinged and have original gum (glue) on backs, the set of (5) lists value at $835 - VERY NICE SET !! :))

Here is a list of auction prices (for the singles) - yours are the first 5 on this list and look at both MNH (Mint No Hinge) price categories. The grading is based on the print quality and centering of image on the stamps and yours appear to be all very well-centered.

      Hi
      wendisattic
Old fashion stamp album you have to use a small little stamp holder call hinge, when the stamp as this little defect on the back of it,,, decrease it's value a bit.
Today the stamp album have some little pouch for putting the stamp, so no hinge need it.
      Nice set.

      Regards

      Alan

Hinged is when a small piece of cellophane is attached to the glue on the back of the stamp to mount it in a book - if there is no disturbance to the glue on the back then they were never hinged. - These are all "singles" but were all issued on the same day for the same event so it is considered a complete set. - An auction house would probably have them graded prior to sale but I am not sure because I have no experience with auction houses. - You can see on the values chart I linked, some of them go for far above what the book value stated. - I also assume the photo you provided is a scan of your actual stamps and not justed pulled from another source. - Just another comment - I realized that the auction prices I linked included a category for ebay - if I were you, I would just completely ignore those values and just go by the auction value category.

If this(hinge) is attached to the back of a stamp alway's disturbance !!
    10. aghcollect aghcollect, 10 years ago
Yes, Alan - any hinge would be a disturbance - the poster mentioned these were found in a tin so I don't think they were mounted at any time in a book. - Even the earlier stamps are listed in the catalogs with a diminished value for "hinged"

Yes of coarse....an this is great, to have original glue.
