    This has been in my family for 3 generations. My dad in the late 40's brought it back from Prague. I was always wanting to know the history of whats its proper name, who manufactured it, and how old it is. It has several side with battle scenes on it. I was also wanting the translation on the bottom stamp.

      Your vase is Japanese 'satsuma'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satsuma_ware The figures in photo 3 with halos are 'immortals'. Those in photo 4 are samurai/ soldiers wearing lacquered armor.

      too ignorant for this , something like hododa zo- satsuma yaki - GYO ??????

      around 1870

      i,am just guessing, this is meijji period , hell of a vase
