I purchased this little guy at auction. I believe he is soapstone, but he has not markings that I can find. He is 2 1/2" tall and 4 1/4" long. I can't figure out if he is a lizard, chameleon or an iguana. Can anyone help me identify him?

I know the shape from documentaries but can't remember the species. I do remember thinking it would take at least a doz. to make a decent shepherd's pie. LOL!

Don't laugh guys. Fried iguana is one of my favourites! Iguana soup just waters down the flavour to me.

LOL, thank you guys, I think I will go with Chameleon, Weirdpuckett, now you have me wondering whether it is soapstone or Onyx, the mysteries keep coming....

Peasejean, bet you haven't even tried rabbit! Have you eaten escargot & thought about what you are eating? Chicken or beef liver? It's all in your mind & what you are accustomed to. Chicken foot soup anybody? LOL!!

If you stratch underneath on the base and it feels soft and leaves a white line, it is probably soap stone. If it is Onyx and you stratch a mark and it stays the same colour it is probably Onyx or another stone, I really don't know how hard Onyx is, I know Soap stone is very soft. I hope this helps.

Blunderbuss, I will admit to you, I remember my father bringing a dead Rabbit to my nans house. I also remember her skinning it, It was horrible, hasten to say I didn't touch it, I was only about 5 but it is memory that I'll never forget. I have had Snail etc. Now I eat only Fish, Turkey and Chicken, I'm a wimp I know, lol. Now I

The pics don't show any colour, so it could be onyx.

Weirpuckett, For some unknown reason I don't believe you, lol.
    18. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 10 years ago
Whoops I didn't see the last pic, there are lots of white lines, so guys I think it's Soapstone.
    19. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
I just blew up the last pic & agree with Peasejean.

Weird, you're my kind of guy! Don't ask before or after, what you have eaten. Sure I've eaten cat & probably dog & horse, but we have gotten off the subject. Yum yum! Slugs are good! (Escargo) LOL!!!
