While searching for some pictures for mikelv85, I came across some pictures of an interesting figurine I used to own but sold (I needed to make room for my new interest in Loetz). It's a mythological figure known as a Hippocampus by Alfedo Barbini circa 1950's. It has typically been depicted as a horse in its forepart with a coiling, scaly, fish-like hindquarter and if I recall stood about 12" tall. Thanks for looking.
unique!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Sean, and thanks for the loves Aghcollect, and Vetraio. At the time selling it seemed like a good idea, but I now regret it as it was a beautiful piece. Live and learn I guess..
Thanks for the kind comment CindB, and thanks for the loves Petey and Kivatinitz.
I love this.
I think Barbini had a copy of Aldromandi's Bestiary or similar - he seemed to enjoy making these mythological creatures!
It's beautiful Rick.......I feel your pain about this one, but Loetz will definitely fill the void. :)
Thank you for the kind comments Race and Mike, and thank you Welz, CeramicAnt and Smiata.
Thank you Sklo42 and Tom.
Thank you, Inky.
Love, love, love....I too have a passion for Murano glass. I have found some figurine posted -- always seen to find the PINK ones....LOL
Thank you Rose. I think I read on one of your posts that you love pink.
Thank you DoubleD.
