Hello Folks, I would appreciate any help I can get with this piece, I know its very old but what is it?? All that was on it was the sticker you see in the photo not sure if there is any markings because it has layers of years to it. Thanks so much
Looks like a logger's pike - if you go to Google images and type in "logger's pike", you'll see what I mean.
The blade seems too long its over 12" loggers pikes were much shorter. I keyed in Antique pikes and came up with Confederate Bridle Cutter Pike maybe not sure yet?
Hmmm...I looked up "Confederate Bridle Cutter Pike", and I must say this looks like it. If it is, it would be a pretty rare thing, and worth the time to let some experts handle it.
On closer examination, I notice the straight part is more blade-like than spike-like, which to my mind makes it more weapon than tool. I just finished looking through Neumann's "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution" and found nothing like it there. Another possibility that comes to my mind is naval boarding pike. Sorry I can't give you anything more definitive.
Thank You will keep up the search and appreciate your help
I agree with dhumphrey & Chris. I would research Georgia pikes.

This could be it!! really though $1000
Yep, $1,000 for a rare and unusual Confederate battle implement does not surprise me.
Well dhumphrey, I'll give you 3 goats & take my chances. LOL!
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck & quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. Right? "U dun gudd". OK, 4 goats! The governour of Georgia ordered blacksmiths to make these so they are all slightly diff.. OK, 4 goats!
Wow!! I must say this was an amazing find, I do have to sell it it is part of an estate what is the best avenue in which to sell items like this?
Should it be cleaned or restored?
Don't dare touch it! leave it as is. You might try Rob Robles at "AntiqueGuns.com or there are many other auction sites. May I ask what State you found it in?
Illinois
Thank you all, you folks are amazing!! I will not touch it, it amazing to think one of the soldiers held this in his hands.
