I've been anxiously awaiting the latest member of my blackamoor family which finally arrived today. I'd been looking for one ever since a pair sold at auction in 2009. I was thrilled when this recently came up for auction down in Mexico and was fortunate enough to win it. It was manufactured by Seguso Vetri d'Arte circa 1938 and is constructed of clear bullicante glass and red pasta glass with gold inclusions. It's a nice size measuring a tad over 12" tall. This is part of a series of street musicians which are illustrated in "Art Glass from Murano 1910-1970", Heiremans, pg. 155.
Fantastic. The movement in this figure is so special!
What a nice addition to your collection and the candle holder is a knockout too !

Thank you Austrohungaro and Kivatinitz.
Fantastic!!!...love the clear with red and black...and I can almost hear the music...:-)
Thank you Inky. I too love the colors. I feel that using the clear glass allows the other colors to really pop... An excellent design choice by Seguso.
One word -- SUPERB !
Thank you so much Rose, and thanks for the love DoubleD.
