battlegear
(69 items)
Before the 1980s the Iraqi Armed Forces had used various steel helmets which were mostly of Soviet origin. These included Russian M40 and M60 helmets and Polish M50 patterns, They also used some M1 style steel helmets from the US, West Germany, and other euro copies
This Desert sand camo M1 steel helmet is actually an old US steel helmet that was exported years ago from the USA
The venerable M-1 steel helmet was supplied in large quantities by the US to the Saudis in the 1960s and 70s, and in turn by the Saudis to Iraq in the 1980s Iran Iraq War. Many of these "Iraqi steel pots" were brought home as prized war souvenirs by US servicemen returning from Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
the Iraqis would have also made use of captured gear leftover from the War with Iran in the 1980's
cool helmet and accompanying items battlegear its certainly got a been there look to it ,i always like the way you tastefully display your collection groupings ,regards james
I agree, I like the been there look too, these items were probably used in field conditions just like the soldier in the combat photo, and still has the grime , field wear, and sweat from the soldier that used it.
