Here is a another outstanding Japanese Art Deco box from my collection. It's much larger than the other one from my collection. It's most likely a cigarette or cigar box because it has a cedar wood lining, which is typical for those types of boxes of that period. It appears to be silver plated, and other antique dealers have attributed these boxes to Sally Shell as the designer. It has a "Made in Japan" stamp on the bottom, which dates it anywhere from 1921-1941.
The Art Deco period influenced design around the world, but it's fairly rare to see Asian items with this sort of design. I love the geometry of this box, which is iconic Machine Age design.
Really quite STUNNING !!!
Other wonderful box!
