Any ideas on the maker of this ginger jar or the time frame? It is marked with an unidentifiable blue circular mark under the glaze and a made in Japan sticker over the glaze. It was a lamp at one point. This is exactly how the bottom of the base looked once removed from the lamp base. Definitely Japanese, but need help identifying the mark. I can't even find the pattern.

    Thanks!

      Hello,

Thanks for your reply. There are actually a few cracks on the inside near the base, but as for cracks on the outside I don't see any cracks where crackling is visible. When I removed the base it sat on this is exactly how it looked. The blue mark is hand-painted and I believe was applied after the biscuit firing (like you said) but before the glaze is applied. I added a few more photos. Also, I found this on Ruby lane, ... http://www.rubylane.com/item/440416-TOLW825/Large-Pair-Ginger-Jar-Lamps-Japanese?utm_source=thefind&utm_medium=productfeed ... if you follow this link it will take you to a pair of Japanese ginger vases. On the base I see what appears to be the same mark except for it is impressed and is listed as Japanese Kutani. Yet when I research Kutani markings nothing even similar comes up. Thanks again!
