Now this fish is about 20yrs old. The story behind this is it used to sit on my husbands deck in his office, he kept pens and pencils in its mouth, he really liked this fish. When he died I had to clear out his deck, well when I saw this it made me smile because I knew how much he liked it. So it now resides with me in Spain, Whenever my kids visit me, we always have chuckle about how their father liked this fish. To be honest I have fallen in love with it too.
I think it is Mexican earthenware, decorated in brightly coloured enamel. I don't know if there is a story behind it, folklore or whatever. It is about 4 inches high, 4 inches wide and 6 inches long and has a big mouth, lol?

I seen a couple like this but not as nicely coloured & I've also seen them in a frog design but never knew what they're for , i thought they may have been for coasters to put your cups on !! ;-)

Your fish looks like something my daughter would make. She is an artist near Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

When I lived Mexico unfortunately I never visited Puerto Vallarta, I hear it's lovely there. I have no idea were this came from I always remember it being on my husbands desk, so I guess he bought it. I really do like it, every time you have a close look you see something different. Thanks for popping round and thank you for your comment and love.

We have a very similar one but it is a frog. Had it for years and it was sold to hold SOS pads by the sink.
