While traveling back from Oregon to Utah we stopped in Twin Falls Id and found that gas was $1.48/ gal!!!!! Wow!!! That was so exciting for an old guy who still remembers gas at under $.20/gal during all my growing up years. I also remember working really hard for $1 and hr and baby sitting for $.35 an hr. That part was not so great so we don't dwell on that these days. I did really wonder when we got back to Utah where we actually have multiple oil/gas refineries and found gas to be at $1.78? Really? So why the disparity we ask? In any event we remember when we bought gas at Frontier stations it was always pretty cheap and we got full serivce where they checked your oil, tire pressure, washed your windshield and gave you free maps of about anywhere in the USA. Don't give up! America is still the greatest Country on earth and we still can chart our own course by just doing our research and going to the voting polls and "hiring" representatives who will steer the big ship America back on a course that beckons to the dreamers to make their dreams come true. We believe in America!
We got this cool Frontier sign off of an Ebay ad if you can believe that. We had a friend who knew that we had been looking for a red Frontier Keyhole sign for a very long time call us and tell us about an ad he saw posted with this sign for sale. It was not that far away and was owned by an Antique store in neighboring Colorado so we hit the magic "buy it now" button and bought the sign. These red keyhole signs are pretty hard to find these days so we were thrilled to get it. We anxiously poured the footing a couple of weeks ago and figured it was dry enough to stand it today and that's exactly what we did. We think it looks awesome in the string of three red signs all of different shapes. We love the variation of shapes, colors, and designs. On our whole trip to Northern Calif up along highway 1 to Lincoln Oregon and then on to Bend and through Idaho on the return trip, we did not find one single sign nor sign pole for sale???? We called everyone we knew or even people we didn't know along the way and had zero results in a 2630 mi venture!!!! This is our first trip getting totally struck out. Not sure what is happening, but things seem to be drying up in a hurry. We hope things loosen up in the Spring as. Any Pickers do their work during the winter and begin selling in the Spring. Let's hope for their success as it determines our future new sign purchases. You can still visit us at aaaLakesidestorage.com or come by and see our collection for FREE. Take all the pix you want and put them on the Internet any way you want but just give us a little traffic in the process as it helps our SEO and we like that. Hope you like our new sign as much as we do.
Finally, someone as old as I. Gas is $1.76 here is Colorado. If it gets to $.20 again, it will be for a pint. :-) I was one happy camper when my salary reached $1 hour.
I remember $18 cents. (true). I helped Moses when he got lost. (not true). Always like your posts Rattletrap. Keep them coming.
Venezuela was selling petrol (gas) at less than 25 cents a gallon about 2 yrs. ago & I understand that it's about the same now. U.S. control of the world has kept cruise boats from "bunkering" there & even small tankers that try to make a profit selling cheap fuel thru the islands is now banned by some unknown power that nobody seems to understand. Everybody pays the price because the States insists on acting like children in a sandbox & insisting that others follow suit, just like with Cuba. Such children! Anyway, keep your great postes coming!
Valentino, just go to S/W Miami and save yourself the airfare! Be sure you're armed though! I can fly there easily from here but might get kidnapped when I get back & taken & tortured (again) by the U.S. gestapo. I burned out on Latino countries years ago. They always sound like they are arguing even when you know what they are saying. Kind of like Italian. LOL!
I have a son in law that has been there and friends that are from there. The story is pretty much the same. Hawaii is more beautiful, nicer beaches, cleaner, you can drink the water and you don't need to be armed or worry about being kidnapped. I suggest Hawaii for lots of reasons and those are just a couple.
