I have had these Slazenger Ben Hogan "championship" Golf Irons
in my collection for years. I however have not been able to tell when
they were made, or any history of the clubs. So far I've reached out to Slazenger and Ben Hogan with no response.
The 1-9 clubs all have the same serial number, but the Dual Wedge does not have any number, but has the same shaft grip etc.
Any help with the date of production or if they are rare would be of help.

agh thanks Ive seen that from the Hogan site, but I think because these are Slazenger they are different. I do appreciate knowing the wedge would not have numbers. Thanks for your quick response.

These clubs are know more as Hogan Apex Blades.
My uncle who was a pro in the UK and knew ben Hogan, gave a set like this to my dad when Hogan clubs were made by Slazenger.
This was during the Ryder Cup in 1967, and my dad got these style of blades given to him in 1970. Your set looks a little newer, and your grips are fabulous if they are the original. I would guess those are from 1970-1974. Hogan started making clubs under it own name with the Hogan Apex brand as far back as I played. My Uncle played Hogan Apex from the 1970's until retirment so I am pretty sure about the year. Slazenger has always been a british company, and mostly a subsidiary of Dunlop who is the Bridgestone of the United Kingdom: Makes Rubber, and Makes Tires. and yes, just like bridgestone, Dunlop made Golf balls under the Slazenger brand. Slazenger and british golf balls were a different size, according to RAA rules, and USGA were bigger. Most players like Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer played with different clubs and balls when in England, and those Hogan Clubs were the norm for pro's. being from the 1970's and Dunlop and Slazenger being based in Shirebrook, Derbyshire (near both Manchester and Birmingham), these would be UK made clubs from that area. i hope that helps.

Very nice set of Irons here. Slazenger it seems were sponsors to many great players during the 50's & 60's and put there name to the 'players' own equipment even though they wasen't necessarily the manufacturer. Evidence to this is seen with the early Ping putters with 'SLAZENGER' stamped to the head bearing the players name. Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player to name two but I guess there are others... like Ben Hogan?
