I'm so in love with these pieces I could stare at them for hours. One ashtray- super heavy and a sugar bowl with a stainless steel lid. I've been trying to identify them and after some trail following I think they might be Sanyu. (??) Hoping racer4four might be able to help me out. :) I don't really know enough about glass description to provide intricate details. They have no stickers or ID anywhere. There are a few little bubbles in the glass here and there (particularly in the sugarbowl), but the bases are clean and there are no scratches. I found one at a boot market and the other in a second hand store in the same town. What a moment when I found the second one! The sugarbowl was so different to anything else I'd seen around- I was over the moon when I found a matching ashtray. I had a dream that they were with a vase at some point. I hope it was prophetic and that I'll find it soon.
Yes gorgeous Sanyu!
This 3 colour decor is theirs, the ashtray is some of their lovely hot glass work, and your sugar bowl is theirs, more often seen in just clear glass.
I think you have scored really well.....I love them.
1960s
I hope you don't mind but I've added these treasures to the Japanese Glass collection.
Thanks racer4four! You seem to be the foremost knowledge on the topic, so thanks for your feedback. I don't mind you adding them to the Japanese glass collection at all. I'm so glad they can be part of it.
Thanks for the love everyone
