Hi
Everyone.
I want to share with you one of my find today at GW in my area, a very realist and vibrant color oil painting on board, by a Canadian Artist Otto Planding, with is time period frame, from 1930.
When you look this painting it's look so real, that's remind you a picture, you expect to see a deer jump across the trail or a rabbit running in the deep woodie area.Wondeful painting.
Dimension Frame 27"by 21" Board 22" by 16"
Thanks for Viewing
Alan
------------------------OTTO PLANDING (1887-1964)----------------------------
Otto Planding was born in Germany in 1887. He studied at the Munich Academy of Art.
Otto Planding came to Canada from Germany in 1913.
From the moment of his arrival from Germany until his death in 1964, he supported himself exclusively by painting. He lived very humbly in Toronto and eschewed luxuries.
Otto’s permanent residence was in Toronto, where he maintained a studio behind Haynes Gallery, on Yonge Street but he spent much of his time painting in Northern Ontario.
He painted mostly in the countryside north of Toronto, in the Georgian Bay Area, where many wealthy people had summer homes by the lake.
The Muskokas and the Rockies were some of his favourite painting areas as well as the Haliburton region and Algonquin Park.
Today Otto Planding’s oil paintings of Ontario’s vibrant lakes and rivers are highly sought after for both their content and their artistic impressionist qualities.
He died without a will in a rented room, in 1964 at the age of 77
His entire estate was comprised of $52.00 in cash and three recently completed paintings.

very touching story of a very talented painter! this is a scene i'm very familiar with -from years of x-country skiing in the Northeast.
ho2cultcha, same as well for me, coming from the North(Quebec), remind me some places where i go fishing every summer, and for sure when i use to do trapping in the North of Quebec in the winter season.
And of corse some artist not having easy life doing there work, very sad ending for a talented Man.
