Don't know if this is a common item or not. Have dug a lot of trash pits and only found this one. Have not seen a Lash's bottle picture with this top on it. I imagine a cork was probably tightly fitted or cemented into it.
Have discovered since posting that this is the top piece to an old glass advertising thermometer housing.
