This was the second ring that started me collecting Antique and vintage jewellery.
Its a beauty and I love everything about it. It has a French gold purity mark on the shank, denoting a minimum of 18ct, the mark was in use from around 1795-1810.
The enamelling is wonderful and the colours are still very vivid after 200 yrs. The Opal is not the original stone to this piece, a jeweller told me it had been replaced, the original stone would have been the same stones as the sides and shank, so it would have been either a Ruby or Emerald. Unfortunately I had to replace an Emerald (gutted) on the shank and there has also been a replacement of a Ruby on the other shank as you can see from the prongs on the Ruby, all the rest are in a bezel mount.
Many thanks for looking.
Precious ring!

STUNNING DARLING!!!!
Why, thank you darling Sean, lol.
Pretty much like always I do what I can & try to be around wonderful caring people that are a bit like me enjoy our peace help others were we can, & keep out of trouble. I have mountains around me with tropical trees & ferns every where I look so I find that relaxing. Enjoy your beer try not to overdo it & have a safe & enjoyable day tomorrow sleep well tonight. Time for a cupper. Goodnight to you & everyone else.
I'm on my second small one. I see you are from Queenland, we had terrific 2 weeks in Cairns, we travelled to the rain Forrest it was fantastic. Enjoy your cupper, bye.
That I did then some house chores. Were are you from. We moved here about 3 years ago as my partner is from here it's were he grew up & still has his mum here. After 22 years at the time I came up to met her & feel in love with her & where we are so when we went back home we sold everything for next to nothing &this is were we moved. It hasn't turned out like I thought with my health problems waiting to sort some of it out that can be then off to do some more exploring. Still waiting to see a croc in the wild. Went down to one of the beaches one day then the next day apparently there was a huge one on the same beach. I wont be swimming in the surf here. I'll get used as a tooth pick.
I'm originally from the UK. I've lived in Thailand, Kenya and then Mexico, with my husbands work. He died in 2006, I didn't want go back to UK, But I wanted be near enough to come and go at leisure so I moved to Spain, I love it, I also like going back to UK to see my family, it was a big choice to make but I think I made the right move moving to Spain. I live in the county with about 4 acre of land with fruit trees, there is always something to do so I keep myself busy. I also have great 4 dogs.
Sorry to hear about your husband I've been through that myself at a very young age at the time. I have know been in a relationship for 25 years & still going strong. You sound really happy were you are & it does sound like a top spot. On & off over the years I have spent a lot of time in the outback but decided to get back to the Coast & a different state. My only problem is were I am I cannot have animals & miss pets. I also have trouble filling in a lot of time as all the outside gets done by the park owner. I don't want to move into a house because the plan was to do some traveling which I'm hoping we will still get the chance to do when things get sorted. Stay safe & happy because even through your upsetting loss that's how you sound.
Life is life, you have to carry on, even though you don't want to. It was really weird, my son went off to Uni in the UK the year before my husband died, then my daughter followed the same year my husband died, their is only 13 months between them. I felt very lonely, but eh you have to get on with things, I miss him even now, it will be ten years on the 1st July this year. I hope he's looking down on me, and saying eh Jean you've done well.
Everything you said is so true. The hardest times are always when the anniversary of there death comes around, it was for me anyway but you get to a time when it hurts a bit less & you can look back at the great time you spent together. I hope it comes to you sooner then it did me as I was so young when it happened & very pregnant at the time. I just wanted to be with him & it was so hard to look at my son as he was or still is so much like his dad. As I said I have now been in a very long term relationship & I would not marry him in case I was jinxed, even when his time of death came around it still really hurt. In the last 10 years I can look back with no pain. Be safe & very happy our children have to grow & live there own lives as you know.
Exactly Zowie, you get on with things. As they say one door closes and another one open's, hopefully for the best, lol.
Many thanks

You can say that again Peasejean55 as long as the door we choice is for the better. Sometimes in our grief we are a little bit blind sided then there are the fools that are just that fools. Nothing else to say on that matter I think you understand were I'm coming from. As the saying goes you have been there done that. What about the leeches we thought were friends males that is the man is gone so we need someone in our pants what they don't understand that is the last thing we want so we lose a friendship that wasn't worth it & there wives don't know what happened as we don't want to tell them they are married to a jerk. Have a top day may only good thing's come your way.
I know life is a b---h sometimes, but I've learnt to keep my own council, I keep away from what I think are danger areas. I'm happy with my dogs living in the country and keeping busy.
You sound very much like me in some respects. Sleep is getting closer I don't think I will have to much problems after today. keep well have a great day I know I will as like you in the real world I keep my own council I only let in those with similar minds that way you don't bring any trouble your way
Stunning ring!...:-)
Thank you inky, it is a terrific ring. With a few of my older pieces of Jewellery I wonder what history they have seen, not that we'll ever know, lol.
I feel that about all my old 'stuff'..I wish I new not only who made it but! the lives they must have touched over the many years in getting to us!!!...:-)
I'm certainly what we say in Britain a Magpie, I love shiny, glittery things. I look at myself has a keeper, until these pieces go on to pasture new. Thanks for passing by and giving me another love :-))))
Thanks again for the love inky :-)
