I received this Barbie for my 7th birthday in 1959 from my grandmother. My grandmother was actually appalled when she saw Barbie for the first time because Barbie's body was so extreme back then. However, that's all I wanted for my birthday, so she got it for me. I loved this doll and took great care of it. I have been disappointed that the earrings turned her ears green, so I removed them. I think of my grandmother whenever I get the doll out.
Does anyone know which version this doll is? The number on the left side of her rear end is B216, but I can't read the other stuff.

Thank you so much for this reference. Mine is #3 version. I really appreciate it.
Hi your doll is a number 4 or 5 not a 3 . The 3 still has soft bangs and she turned white and blotchy . So about ears there is a treatment Barbie collectors have used to cure it . Lovely doll and I also remember the 1st one with black eyes and high arched eyebrows and I thought she was creepy but I wish I had bought the whole shelf full now :-)
Here is my Number 3 and there is a huge difference in price from 3 to 4 and 5 .

And please correct me as you can fell hair more than I can see on a photo are her bangs same texture as hair ? If so let me know :-) the white on chest does imply a color change of number 3 but I need to see whole body better and touch her for weight also .
Her bangs are same texture as rest of her hair - very soft. I can't tell if there's a ™ or © after Barbie. Her torso is very white.
I had Barbies all through my childhood, but played hard with them and when they were pooped out, I guess they were tossed. I'd give anything to have them back, and their wonderful clothing. Buying one just wouldn't be the same thing. :(
I agree. The Barbies we actually played with hold so many childhood memories.
She is a number 3 then you might rube a pencil over mark by Barbie I blew up photo and hard to read but suspect it is TM her body may have been from a very used mold and loses it clarity, She is worth having her ears fixed . My daughter is in Doll club for Barbie's and in her club was owner of Barbie Bazaar magazine . There are a few members in club that can get it out nut they do not share their formula . I don't know what it is but one remedy I heard works is acne cream . I had many old Barbie's at one time all passed on to my daughter . They also can soften her hair and redo ponytail like it was originally . She would be stunning . Glad you clarified about hair . I can't see the markings on her clear by photo
oops that rub a pencil over mark it will wipe of easily but might make it more clear to see TM
Hi your doll is a transitional Barbie. she has a number 3 body and number 4 head. They would have used left over parts when they went to number 4. it is not 3 head . The body has more value than head as it sought after body to collectors who would put a 3 head on it if their body is damaged
That makes sense based on what I have been reading. Thank you for your help!
Your welcome ! :-)
I just had to think about it as I knew head and hair did not look at all like a #3 or color of lips. hope you get green out and her hair redone it would be worth it.:-)
