The bottom of the base of this lamp states "Chicago Mosaic Lamp Co." I believe that the Chicago Mosaic Lamp Company only made glass shades.
Victorian Sugar Shade
An original, Victorian Era Sugared Fabric Lamp Shade
The shade is done in a heavy fabric. It is hand painted. It has been covered with tiny glass beads, which the Victorians called "sugared."
The lamp shade is also trimmed with fringe and Czech Glass Beads.
That's a pretty cool lamp.
Thank you so much. I love it!
Mudwoman, It is some type of skin...now I know what it is! Thank you! I actually like the tacky shade.
I remember meeting some shade workers or makers in the 80's. Some did fantastic jobs, expensive but beautiful. The base is as beautiful as they get for an old one. It looks 20's in design.
PhilDMorris, I figured that the base was 1920s (my favorite time period). The strings are getting bad on the shade and some of the beads are falling off. Thank you for your comment!
That's a fantastic looking shade!! The lamp is pretty cool too.
